英语新闻标题的语言特点

[摘要] 文章通过对从新闻报章中随机选取的150个新闻标题进行研究进而分析得出英语新闻标题的特点。文章主要从词汇，语法和修辞等语言学角度进行分析。词汇主要从缩略词，小词和专有名词的使用角度进行分析；语法主要从一般现在时的使用，省略，分词等的使用角度分析；修辞分析了新闻标题中最常出现的比喻等进行分析。

The Linguistic Features of News Headlines

[Abstract]: The thesis presents an analytical study of the linguistic features of news headlines at lexical, grammatical and rhetorical levels. The author collected 150 news headlines from newspapers and magazines. Through the detailed survey of the three aspects, the linguistic features of news headlines are summarized and possible reasons are given.

I. Introduction

Nowadays news has become an indispensable part of people’s daily life. More information but the living pace of modern people is quite fast, they can not spare too much time to read all the news and articles in detail. News headlines, as the highlight of the news, in some way, are the spirit of the news reports. To study the features of news headlines in linguistics is quite meaningful. This paper is to survey news headlines in newspapers and magazines in order to find out the linguistic features of the news headlines. The result is that the linguistic features of news headlines are mostly in word choice, grammar and rhetoric devices. They make news headlines brief and vivid

The features of news headlines can be summarized as brief, concise and eye-catching. According to the above principle and the common knowledge of linguistics, a careful study of news headlines is carried out. The author collected 150 news headlines from China Daily (2006), Newsweek (2000) and Time (2000).The result is shown in the following table after a study of these news headlines.
