难忘的阿尔泰之旅Our Memorable Trip In Altai

Hello! My name is Sergey Adoevtsev. I am one among the million photographers in Moscow. My camera is my third arm. I would like to tell you about how I spent the 29th of June 2011 in the company of my wife Mary, and my friend Semyon. We had an opportunity to make a long journey to the Altai Territory. Travel as you know is always exciting and interesting. It is through travelling that you get to know who you really are but for some its another story. For others the journey itself is so interesting that they decide to go for another trip to the same destination. And now let the journey begin…

The plane landed in the early morning at the airport in Barnaul. On setting foot on the Altai ground, I took my first photo even though I was still feeling sleepy.

Its 4.30 a.m. local time, in the midst of the rush and darkness the images still came out expressive. And here is Simeon, he is a musician. He came to Barnaul in search for nature since he needs it for his new video clip.

At the airport in Barnaul, not that big but comfortable.

On the fence is a quatation from Shukshin. This is his birthplace so it will be obvious that many things have been named after him.

And here is the other side of the airport. It has been named after another famous native of the Altai Territory – German Titov. This was the world’s second cosmonaut for those who have forgotten.

This is the car that met us at the airport.

A very impressive young man at the wheel, like most of the Altai people he is a kind one.

Simeon is already thinking of his new video clip. Next to him is a collegue from the locality.

Meanwhile, me and my wife are so happy that at last we made it to Barnaul.

And Oleg Kazantsev joins us. He is the flash-man. He is our friend in the Altai area, most people know him. He is the one who organized our visit.

He is happy that we are here.

He gets us acquainted to the florists. They are happy to meet us too. After which we leave with flowers.

A morning in Barnaul looks almost like this.

It turns out that Oleg has already planned out a programme for us. An extensive schedule awaits us. He tells us that we will be going on a road trip in the next few hours. The Altai mountains are among the most beautiful spots in our country (and perhaps, on earth).

And we show our gratitudes and bid farewell to the pink “Volga.”

And we are welcomed into this miraculous travel mechanism – a travel van. Its a haven for a tourist, and it has all the comfort.

Initial inspections confirms his specifications and Maria is satisfied with everything.

He is too.

Encouraged, we take a photo with a rose.

Then with the pink “Volga”.

Meanwhile, our host gathers energy.

Then we find a cat and decide to take photos with him.

Maybe, because cats go with everyone.

Especially those who feed them.

Here we see some great similarities.

This is Eva – our host’s daughter. The cat tries to put the photosession to an end but all in vain.

Meanwhile, Semyon is finalizing the script of his video clip.

This is another travel companion. Her name is Tamara. She is the second driver.

Eva is not happy because she is not going for the trip with us.

But Masha easily comforts the young one.

Semyon tells Oleg’s wife about his clip.

Time has come for you to get acquainted with our mode of transport. On the rear side you can hang bicycles. On the top we can put our suitcases and we take the inside part.

The base of our travel van is the Mitsubishi L300, a reliable and proven vehicle. Actually, it never disappointed us, we travelled in it for several days covering over 2000km.

Even a child can hanlde this vehicle, its simple and straightforward.

In short, the van is a dream. Now lets take a look inside…

In it is a whole mansion – equipped with a shower, fridge. and stove! In short its a communal paradise on wheels.

Full sleeping space for six people. This is not a tent for you!

Semyon advises that before depature it would be wise for us to grab something to eat.

Said and done and the place just fits the occasion.

Generally, when you get somewhere and you are met removes the probability that you might have lunch not at the best spot.

They always take you to places that have been “tested” by time.

Oh yes! We at times work as stars! Rarely but only under recommendations from friends. Being a famous person is so hard and sometimes its even a burden.

Meanwhile, it approaches 5 p.m. and its time to leave.

Everyone takes his place – the driver and the navigator.

Passenger on the upper deck.

Simeon at the table. And me somewhere in between.

At the petrol station. Fuel consumption increases with each additional passenger.

The driver is satisfied, this can be seen through his smile.

This young man has a lot of creativity.

He is ever composing. At times operas, at others symphonies.

But the others just want to listen to simple songs.

Ice cream in summer. Fit for the weather.

Another stop.

This spot commemorates a tragic event. Its here that the governor and satirist Mikhail Edvokimov was killed in a car accident.

A rose bush.

A general photo.

We continue with the journey as the sun goes down.

My wife is missing home and she wants us to go back home.

Tamara cannot help looking at the poet.

The poet is thinking.

Lost something?

Not his!

Washing hands.

A new friend.

And we travelled on and on our way we saw cows.

Splices- these places are famous with the name of Shukshin  (he was born here). Since 1976, in his honour, the “Shukshin” cultural festival is held annually.

And the famous patties. They are known all over the region.

On the selection list are not only patties and cakes, but also honey, pickles and mead.

Pies for us are a priority.

Delicious.

And we pounced on the food like we came from a hunger stricken region.

Indungently did the locals look at us.

We did not stop.

Coffee here is good too.

Salted cucmbers.

All our tummies were like balls that the vehicle got the effect and rounded up a bit.

Oleg confirms that we have taken everything that we needed. We had taken more than enough.

On the road again.

Travelling is such fun!

the fun is not determined by the quality of the roads.

Near the road is untouched nature. On every field, eagles soar. At night you can easily rum into a deer…God forbid!

We came across even such animals.

And here are the mountains, the farther you get, the higher the mountains become. The landscape gets saturated.

A serious talk in progress meanwhile.

Another stop.

Here we are! We have arrived! Everyone is taking photos for memory.

Near the imposing stele.

Of course we took a photo for our memories.

Then another one to prove to everyone that we were really here.

The mountain river inspires Simeon to rad some obscene limericks.

The sunset rays softly touch our faces. We feel good together.

But the road does not end…

Somehow, it got dark very fast. Perhaps its because we grabbed a few litres of mead amongst the patties, cucumbers and pies.

The mead that when you drink, you do not know what is going on. Because it seems that nothing is going on. But you just tried it out.

The bridge over the rough mountain river Katun- the main water artery to the Altai mountains. We saw it and even swam in its waters.

Katun by the way means woman.

In some parts of the bridge crossing is charged.

Its almost two in the morning. The roads grew dark and dangerous. In addition, everyone got tired and drowsy, (except me, the naughty one), that is why we could not make it to Chemal’s so we decided to call it a day and retired to bed.

Moving ahead, I had never experienced such a morning in my life. I was woken up by the noises of the river, the air was clean, and my heart enlightened. If you would like to wake up in the morning happy and inspired, pay a visit to the Altai mountains.
