Why she’s a spicy dish: Katrina is the newest sex bomb of India, mainly known for her glamour roles (which is a Bollywood term referring to romantic parts in films, usually playing the object of affection). She was raised in Hong Kong, Hawaii, and England, but never lived in India until adulthood, and she does not speak Hindi, a fact that irritates a lot of Indian fans. She’s been in a lot of films, some hits, and some bombs, but the fans love her no matter what.

Why she’s a spicy dish: Archana is one of the few highly respected comedic actresses in India- usually Bollywood leaves the humor to the men. She got her start in commercials and then moved into television, on a long running serial called Mr and Mrs. From there she moved into movies, always playing the comic relief, and after film roles dried up, she moved back into television. She hosted a gossip chat show called “Kya Scene Hai” for some time, and is currently a judge on the comedy show “India’s Comedy Circus”.

She has starred in a lot of fluffy fun romantic comedies, but received a lot of critical praise for her role as a sex worker in Chameli. Since then, she landed a role in 3 Idiots, which has gone on to become the biggest blockbuster in Indian history. She is dating another actor, Saif Ali Khan, and the pair are considered the Brangelina of India. Her life is under constant scrutiny by the paparazzi.

Why she’s a spicy dish: Shilpa has the best of intentions but trouble always seems to find her. She’s been in over 40 films and is constantly in the press, maybe because she’s always reinventing herself. She is well loved by India and received critical praise for playing an AIDS patient in Phir Milenge, but she’s also been linked to the mafia (this isn’t that unusual actually, it’s widely believed that the mafia funds most Bollywood films). To top that, she was arrested on obscenity charges after Richard Gere planted an impromptu kiss on her during  they were hosting together. She took a break from movies to participate in Celebrity Big Brother, but India wants her to stay out of trouble and go back to making good movies.

Why she’s a spicy dish: Madhuri is a legendary actress in India, on top of being a trained dancer. This might be why she’s most known for her musical numbers. Songs from Bollywood movies are often released in advance of the movie, and can make or break that movie’s success. In 1993, Madhuri was in a movie called Khalnayak where she sang a song called “Chole Ke Peeche”, which translates roughly to “What’s under my blouse?”. Spoiler alert: it’s her heart, but the song had enough innuendos to make it a very sexy number, which simultaneously got people up in arms and also made the song one of the most popular of all time. At this point, filmmakers are making films as a tribute to her.

Why she’s a spicy dish: Sonam is well educated, one of a handful of Indian actresses who attended university. She looks both Indian and Western, and is often put into sexy, serious roles. She started her career by assisting the production of several Bollywood films and then slowly moved into starring in them herself. She’s been in a flop here and there but is considered India’s thinking man’s sex object.

Why she’s a spicy dish: In addition to her beauty, Vidya is a serious, respected actress. She had some trouble starting her career, starring in a few flops before giving up and moving back to commercials. She returned to movies in the early 2000s and played a woman with Muscular Dystrophy, which launched her superstardom. Playing grittier, uglier roles has been great for her career, and in 2007, Vidya was in Eklavya: The Royal Guard, which was India’s official submission to the Oscars for Best Foreign Film. It was not nominated.

She has played both a religious aesthete who abandons all possessions, as well as a serial killer, and her first starring role in “Aap Kaa Surroor- The Real Luv Story”. She’s only 18 but is becoming a huge star.
