偶看新闻真做大尺度欧美电影:《應用英文》淺易的句子 「微妙」的含義(一)

本文開頭的每一句，都是生活上常常聽到的淺易會話，如果不懂其中口語的「微妙」含義，恐怕也會「滿頭霧水」。
為了讓讀友充分了解口語的用法，我在造句裡盡量使用不同的動詞時態。例如：
Don't take me for a ride.
To take someone for a ride意思是欺詐或欺騙某人；使某人吃虧上當(to be deceived or tricked)(這多半用在被動語態。這裡ride是名詞，故不用動詞時態；ride, rode, ridden)所以上句意思是：別欺騙(或愚弄)我。
其他造句：
Inexperienced as Bill is, he is taken for a ride sometimes.
像Bill那樣沒有經驗的人，有時被人欺騙。
Being smart and alert, Jim will not likely be taken for a ride.
Jim聰明而機警，他不太可能被人欺騙。
Out of ignorance, Mr. A has been taken for a ride many times.
A先生出於無知，多次被人詐騙。
有時也用在主動語態：
What if someone takes you for a ride?
假如有人欺騙(或愚弄)你，怎麼辦？
也可指真正搭便車，要看句子的意思：
As my car is broken, can you take me for a ride to the store?
我的車子壞了，我能搭你的便車去商店嗎？
It left nothing to be desired.
to leave nothing to be desired是指完善無缺，非常滿意(to be perfectly satisfactory)
所以上句意思是：那幾乎十全十美。
其他造句：
Generally speaking, a well-educated person would leave nothing to be desired in behavior.
一般來說，受過良好教育的人在行為上該是令人滿意的。
(to be desired有to be expected的意味)
Your solution to this touchy issue has left little to be desired.
你對這件棘手問題的解決，使人極度滿意。
(有時可用little代替nothing)
反之：
To leave something to be desired就是不完善，不滿意，需要改進(not perfect; unsatisfactory)
除用something 外，也用 much, a lot, a great deal代替：
The election systems in some countries have left much to be desired.
一些國家的選舉制度不令人滿意。
Many Chinese people's table manners leave a lot to be desired.
許多老中餐桌禮節需要改進。
His parenting left a great deal to be desired.
他管教孩子，很不高明。
以上通常只用肯定句，故不說：
It will not leave nothing to be desired.(雙重否定)
也不說：It will not leave something to be desired.
He always gets on the ball.
To get (或to be ) on the ball本指球打得很準，這裡意思是苦幹，工作表現好(work hard or work well)多半指工作或活動。上句意思是：他總是幹得出色。
其他造句：
Whatever Mr. B does, he gets on the ball.
B先生不管做什麼，都做得很棒。
