One characteristic of American society today is materialism. Each and every day, the American people are bombarded through media advertisements with what society deems to be "perfection." As a result, many individuals in America are unhappy as they strive to achieve a fantasy life. Many are under the assumption that happiness is unattainable without fame or fortune. This is a delusion as happiness is achieved based on your perception. Know that if your perception of life is negative, your frame of mind can be transformed.

Think about today. Worry less about yesterday and tomorrow. Buddha once said, "Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment." If you focus on yesterday's problems or aspects of the tomorrow, you're losing out on the happiness available in the present moment.

If someone insults you, be proud that you're strong enough to walk away.
