我刚到美国时，曾经修过一门英语写作课。当时班上的同学都是英文大拿，托福得600分以上的人比比皆是。最让人憋气的是，一位国内来的大学英语老师也在这个班上和我们一起学习写美国版的八股文。没办法，那位英语老师在国内学的是英式英语，到了美国，她的英式英语立刻骑虎难下。说到底，不管是英文老师还是皇阿马，到了美国，你就得琢磨美式英语的巴拉巴拉，英式英语或者中国式英语再亭亭玉立，也得被美式英语拉下马。
美式英语中有很多特别简单的英语单词，如果咱们能把这些词应用得当，说话肯定会利索得多，和老美聊天儿时，更能容易融入他们滔滔不绝的交谈中。
1。Sure
别看这个小词只有四个字母，但它的用处却很大。最常听到sure 这个词，是在两人客套时。比如我去纽约唐人街给小胖妈买了一袋大红枣回来，她向我致谢说thank you。如果我和小胖妈很熟，我就会简单说个sure，表示没问题，不用客气。
Sure的另外一个常见用途是用于句子中。如果你想表达对哪件事儿不清楚时，最好不用I do not know. 这种说法比较唐突甚至有点儿粗鲁。如果你能以 I am not sure 代替I do not know，就会显得彬彬有礼多了。在讨论某件事的可能性时，美国人还经常用“Are you sure”表示“你肯定吗？”

这个简单的OK，在美国使用频率非常高。美国人动不动就OK OK的，这和咱中国人说好好好，行行行差不多。在美国这个词天天听人说，在中国估计也很常见吧。以前常在网上看到这样的新闻，“中国，OK！”，新闻中还会配有国人和老外的合影，照片中的宾主双方统统做OK手势，作者试图用“中国，OK！”表达外国人称赞中国很伟大之意。
每当看到类似的新闻时，我不禁叹口气。国内的作者真是太抬高OK这个词了。在美国，OK是个很口语化的词儿，像男人随意间哼唱的口哨曲，真不该用它来描述伟大的祖国，因为它太不正式，级别也不够。
OK多用于如下几种情况。一，医生问候病人或者父母关心孩子时。比如今天我去洗牙，我的牙医就亲切地问了我一句：“are you OK, dear?”在这种语境下，寻问者在安抚被寻问者，你没事吧，一切都正常吧。父母或者长辈也常用这句话关心子女或下一辈。二，别人因为冒犯了你的安全距离或者其它原因，向你说“对不起”时，你简答一句“It is OK”，表示别在意，没关系。三，无奈选择时的一种让步。比如我儿子想吃麦当劳，我却给他吃土豆烧牛肉。我问他，吃土豆烧牛肉，行吗？我儿子明明不想吃牛肉，却又不想拒绝我，他就会无可奈何地来一句，it is OK.
