3. Consolidate theoral expression of introducingone’s family: How manypeople are there in your family? I’ve got….. Have you got….? Yes, I’ve got… No,I haven’t.

4.Learn the new expressions: She’s got…., has she got…? Yes, she’s got…/No, shehasn’t.

5. Getthe main idea of the email.

6. Have theconfidence to talk with their classmates about their family.

. Teaching procedure

Stage1. Pre-reading

Step1.Warming up (3mins)

 Review the knowledge learnt at last lesson byasking questions such as “Who can tell me what we have learnt at lastlesson? How to express ‘你家有多少个人’in English?” Theteacher asks several Ss to review what they have learnt at last lesson.

Step2. Presentation byguessing game (3mins)

Teacher speaks thewords and the Ss race to answer the questions. For example, mother’s sister is→aunt. In this part, the teacher presents the new words:grandma, grandpa, mum, dad. 

Step3. Practice.5mins

1.    Have the Ss to match the words in Box Awith the words in Box B on page22.eg: aunt→uncle

2.    Check the answer.

3.    Read the match the whole class.

Stage2. While-reading (15mins)

1.    Have the Ss to read the email.

2.    Have the Ss to retell the main idea of thepassage

3. Answer the questions :

①    Howmany people are there in Betty’s family?

②    IsBetty’s family small?

③    HasBetty got any brothers or sisters?

④    Howmany people are there in Tony’s family?

4.    Make the mail information of the passageinto a table

5. Teacher checkthe Ss how much they have understood about the email by asking question, suchas: How many people are there in Tony’s family? Has Betty got any brothers?

Stage3. Post-reading (8mins)

Step1. Group work

1.    Four Ss work into a group; one is Lingling,one is Betty, one is Tony, and the other one is Diana. They ask each otherquestions according to the table above. They can ask each other like this: Haveyou got a small family or a big family? Have you got any brothers or sisters?

2.    Have several groups to act it out.

Stage4.Homework (8mins)

1.    The teacher tells the Ss the mainprinciples they should be care for writing in English, such as capital letter,punctuation and so on.

2.    Underline the capital letters, full stopsand question marks in the passage.

3.    Have the Ss do the task on page23, part 5.

4.    Have the Ss to write about their familiesin about 60words after class and hand in next class.
