Never mind hip knitting; to me it's all about being square. Square as in modular knitting. Square as in entrelac. The blockier the better, I say. So it only made sense when I decided to design a scarf that it should have angular characteristics. Though this scarf isn't of the modular persuasion, it's close enough.
Since I'm partial to narrow scarves, a finer gauge yarn was my first choice and Hempathy has a great hand that's drapey, firm and smooth. When I saw the Noro Silk Garden Lite, it made me wonder how the design would look with its ever-changing shades. I love the result and it makes up for a warmer and heartier scarf.
Being square doesn't mean being dull.
