由中央文献研究室原副主任金冲及撰写的《二十世纪中国史纲》由社会科学文献出版社出版。这部114万字的四卷本著作，从1894年的甲午战争中国惨败写起。一直写到2000年。近日，本刊对他进行了专访。

毛泽东前期功劳太大

问：从您的书中写到的历史事实看，毛泽东想干什么就干什么，他想打倒谁就打倒谁，像邓小平等，他想干什么都一定能干成，很多事都是不好的。为什么会出现这种现象？

金冲及：说实在的，因为前期毛泽东的功劳太大，而且往往很多人原来认为做不到的事情，结果他都做到了。这样造成两方面的结果，一方面他自己越来越自负了，凡是他的想法都是对的；另外别人也常想也许他仍是对的，后来发展到个人专断。这是不用讳言的事情。曾经有一位负责同志跟我讲过，南宁会议是一个明显的转折。南宁会议前，毛基本上在政治局中间的，比如说抗美援朝，他很早就下了决心要打，很多人不同意，他还是反复开会商量。但是南宁会议之后，他从政治局之中变成之上了。

问：1957年反右之前。共产党请大家提意见，一开始有的人不敢提，党组织的人就去动员；大家就提意见。后来开始反右，这些人被整治了。您的书里面不愿意说当时的情形是引蛇出洞。为什么？

金冲及：我没有说不是引蛇出洞。我这样讲的，最初是整风，让大家提意见，这个目的不是引蛇出洞，这是最初。正确处理人民内部矛盾的文章发表的时候，这里面最突出的是干部跟群众的关系，也是党和群众的关系问题，所以让大家提意见。但是提的意见里面，有些意见是直接要求改变共产党的领导和社会主义制度，毛泽东没想到，比如政治设计院的问题、小知识分子领导大知识分子的问题。加上国际上发生了匈牙利事件，再加上当时也出现有人串联学校这样一些情况，毛泽东写了“事情正在起变化”的文章，他感到事情不是他原来想的那样了，有些人根本反对社会主义的制度，反对共产党的领导，就产生了引蛇出洞。我没有讲不存在引蛇出洞，但是我说引蛇出洞是后来的事，并不是一开始那么做。包括内部的文件讲话，我一点看不出来在初期有这种状况。

问：您刚才也说到了人口的增长和减少的问题。所谓的三年自然灾害，到底饿死了多少人？

金冲及：真正讲起来，绝对准确的数字很难。

我引用的是许涤新主编的《当代中国人口》的数字。人口下降，主要在1960年、1961年。1960年减少1000万，1961年减少300万，1962年又增加了1700万。我不敢说是不是饿死了1000万，反正人口减少了1000万，里面也包括有些老人，本来身体不好；还有妇女，因为生孩子而走了。最严重的是河南信阳地区，毛泽东说饿死人的事情到1960年下半年才知道。知道了以后，他认为信阳出了反革命，认为县委书记这帮人都是反革命，所以把老百姓饿死了这么多。其实错了，真正问题不在这里。

问：苏联共产党经过三次改革都失败了，但是中共从70年代末改革，一下子就成功了。您觉得原因在哪里？

金冲及：至少从中国来说，我觉得“文化大革命”的教训是非常重要的，“文化大革命”之前要推行这样的改革，不要说做不通，甚至说邓小平未必有这样的思想。“文化大革命”吃的苦头太大了，大家都感到不能这样搞下去了。邓小平讲了“文化大革命”也有一功，就是让我们重新考虑这些问题。
