BEIJING, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Friday refuted press reports that China might be involved with a shipload of missiles impounded by police in Finland.

"I cannot see any connection between China and the missiles on this ship," spokesman Liu Weimin said at a daily press briefing.

According to press reports, Finnish authorities on Thursday impounded 69 Patriot surface-to-air missiles and 160 tons of explosives on a British-registered cargo ship sailing from Germany to Shanghai, China.

It is reported that a spokesman of German Defense Department has stated that the cargo on the ship was manufactured in Germany and destined to the Republic of Korea (ROK).

Liu said media reports showed that the ship had docked at a Finnish port only to upload anchor chains for China.

"I cannot see why certain people always tend to impose some unfounded things on China," Liu said.
