[辨析] appear, seem & look
（1）appear是根据事物的表面现象而提出的判断，暗含事实往往并非如此之意；
look指凭视觉印象而作出的判断，实际上也可能如此。
（2）seem是指暗含有一定根据，往往接近事实的判断。它后面可以接名词、形容词、to be 结构，可以互换。
（3）look, seem之后可接like短语，而appear不能，look可以用进行时，但appear, seem不能； look seem可以接as if (though)从句，而appear不能；appear, seem之后可接that从句，而look不能；appear, seem之后可接to do sth. 结构，而look不能； appear, seem 可用于there引导的结构中， 而look不能。
e.g. The green leaves appeared/looked/seemed to be more beautiful after the rain.
It seems like years since I last met you.
She is looking quite a different person.
It looks/seems as if he knew nothing about his new friend.
It appears/seems that we have missed our chance.
There seems/appears to be a mistake in these figures.
