為了蓋全新的科目和題材領域，國會圖書館必須在分類明細表上增加約5000個分門別類的號碼。

Dr. Jolands Goldberg, LC law classification specialist, has made a huge contribution in completing the classification K Project, which has helped many law libraries in the world.

國會圖書館法律分類學專家Goldberg博士完成了K分類計劃，對世界法律圖書館做出重大貢獻。

LC provides the largest law library in the world, from which service is rendered by a staff with law degrees to people who study international and comparative laws.

LC has a book preservation project, or de-acidification program which treats about 300,000 items a year, with the assistance of employees with Ph.D in science, trying to extend the life of printed material from a life span of 100 to 400 years by using a chemical vapor process.

There are several congressional departments in LC concerning law, education/social welfare, environment/natural science, American government, foreign trade and national defense. Each department provides services, rendered by specialists or Ph.Ds, to congressional personnel in preparing their bills or proposals for the Congress.

The LC main reading room has a capacity of more than 250 seats around which there are about 50,000 reference books.

The current LC goal is to connect all information networks among nations through high technology, and trying to share world information with one another.
