It’s been nearly a year since we last heard from our favourite folk songstress, Laura Marling, but luckily for us, new music is just around the corner! This video provides us with a short preview for what we can expect, including the name of the album (‘A Creature I Don’t Know’) and a musical introduction to new material. It’s every bit as stunning, wise and beguiling as what we’ve come to know and love from her.
The new record has been produced by Ethan Johns, the force behind works by the likes of Kings of Leon, Rufus Wainwright and Emmylou Harris. He also produced Marling’s last album, ‘I Speak Because I Can‘, telling us that we can expect the same sparse, yet affecting soundscape she’s trademarked. While we have to wait until September for the official release, ‘A Creature I Don’t Know’ is available for pre-order through her website. In the meantime, we’re content to watch this video (which resembles Marling’s poetic style) and sit in wait for what comes next.
