(ordinary people)

例如:

As one of the rank and file, I shall never be considered a big shot.

stuff and nonsense:

As for this new project, I hate to say, “Stuff and nonsense”!

What a stuff and nonsense! How do you expect Mr. Wang to agree with you?

skin and bones:

(very skinny or thin person)

多半與only或nothing but連用。

例如:

Don't overdo your diet; otherwise you may be nothing but skin and bones.

By the influence of current trends, many young girls are almost nothing but skin and bones.

Strike a happy medium in your weight control; it's unhealthy to be only skin and bones.

odds and ends:

(various items or leftovers)

When Mr. A was moving, he had several boxes of odds and ends.

Don's forget to pack up those odds and ends before you quit your job.

tooth and nail:

In order to gain personal benefits, some politicians in Taiwan are still fighting tooth and nail.

Instead of fighting tooth and nail, all conflicts should be resolved peacefully.

(不能按字母次序寫成nail and tooth,也不用複數 teeth and nails)

vim and vigour (或vigor):

一起連用,就是充滿活力(great strength or energy)

例如:

Young people always want to try something with splendid vim and vigor.

After swimming, I feel full of vim and vigour.

With vim and vigour, Mr. A was climbing the high mountain.

wear and tear:

The sofa has wear and tear and needs to be replaced.

The sofa has worn and torn....)

Having suffered wear and tear, the jacket was discarded.
