一、考试性质
江苏省普通高等学校对口单独招生考试是面向合格的中等职业学校毕业生进行的选拔性考试。英语考试应具有较高的信度、效度，适当的难度和必要的区分度。
二、考试内容及要求
根据普通高等学校对学生文化素质的要求，依据教育部2009年颁布的《中等职业学校英语教学大纲》，以省编中等职业学校《英语》教材为考试复习范围，制定江苏省普通高等学校对口单独招生英语考试内容和要求。
（一）考试基本要求
1.   基本知识和基本技能
达到教育部新颁布的《中等职业学校英语教学大纲》中的基础模块较高要求和拓展模块的教学内容和要求为目标，系统地掌握英语基础阶段的语言知识，并具备听、说、读、写、译的基本技能。
2.   应用能力
具备运用英语进行交际的能力，培养继续学习和终身学习的能力。
3.   职业教育的特点
具备阅读和有效运用有关社会、经济、文化、科技、生活等方面文献的能力，以满足学生未来职业生涯发展的要求。
（二）考试内容
词汇
掌握2200个左右的英语单词（含九年义务教育阶段的词汇）和400个左右的习惯用语和固定搭配。
语法
掌握和正确运用基本的英语语法知识。

听力
听懂有关日常生活和职业场景中所熟悉话题的简短对话和独白。语速为每分钟110个词左右。要求理解主旨和要义；获取具体的、事实性信息；对所听内容做出推断；理解说话者的意图、观点或态度。
阅读
读懂生词率不超过3%的文学作品、科普文章、公告、说明、广告以及书报杂志中关于一般话题的短文并能从中获取信息回答问题。阅读速度为每分钟60-70个词。阅读材料的总阅读量不少于1500词，短文4-5篇。要求理解语篇主旨大意；理解文中具体信息；根据上下文提供的线索推测生词的词义；做出简单的判断和推理；理解文章的基本结构；理解作者的意图、观点和态度。
翻译
根据要求进行英译汉。将带有固定词组、习惯表达法、特殊结构的句子和复合句翻译成中文；能正确翻译所提供材料，语句通顺，译文达意。
书面表达
根据所给提示与要求进行书面表达。能清楚、连贯、完整地传递信息，表达意思；在一定的语境中有效运用所学语言知识写出不少于80个词的短文。
三、考试形式及试卷结构
（一）考试形式
英语考试为水平测试，考试形式为闭卷、笔试。考试时间为120分钟。试卷满分为100分。
试卷由听力、单项选择、完形填空、阅读理解、翻译和书面表达六个部分组成。试卷分为主观题和客观题两部分，第一卷为客观题，第二卷为主观题。
（二）考试难易比例
试卷包括容易题、中等题和难题，其中以中等题为主。

本试卷分第一卷和第二卷两部分。第一卷X至X页。第二卷X至X页。两卷满分100分。考试时间120分钟。

To us it seems so natural to put up an umbrella to keep the water off when it rains. But actually the umbrella was not invented as protection against rain. Its first use was as a shade against the sun!
Nobody knows who first invented it, but the umbrella was used in very ancient times. Probably the first to use it were the Chinese, way back in the eleventh century B.C.
We know that the umbrella was used in ancient Egypt and Babylon as a sunshade. And there was a strange thing connected with its use. It became a symbol of honor and authority(权力). In the Far East in ancient times, the umbrella was allowed to be used only by royalty (王室成员) or by those in high office.
In Europe, the Greek were the first to use the umbrella as a sunshade. And the umbrella was in common use in ancient Greece. But it is believed that the first person in Europe to use the umbrella as protection against the rain was the ancient Romans.

It wasn't until the twentieth century that women’s umbrellas began to be made, in a whole variety of colors.
