       这组动词都有“承认”的意思。

 

       admit  普通用词,指承认原来企图否认或推诿的事情。

 

       1) Under the weight of evidence, the accused had to admitted that he was involved in financial frauds on several companies.

           (在大量的证据面前,被告不得不承认他参与了几家公司财务舞弊行为。)

2) Whenever talking about his daughter, she admitted (to) having certain regrets about her upbringings.

         (每当谈到她的女儿,她承认对她的抚养有某些遗憾。)

 

confess 侧重指供认、坦白或承认自己过错。

 

1) The boy confessed to stealing the passenger’s money.

           (那男孩承认偷了乘客的钱。)

 2) It is not always easy to confess one’s mistakes, but it is inevitably difficult to try to conceal them.

           (承认自己的错误并不总是那么容易的事,但想要隐藏错误必然是困难的。)

 

acknowledge  指公开承认,也可表示一致公认。

 

1) He refused to acknowledge his error even with so much evidence against him.

          (尽管有许多证据都针对他,他仍拒绝承认他的错误。)

2) The senator acknowledge that he was defeated in the election before all the votes were counted.

          (在所有选票清点结束之前,这位参议员承认他在选举中被击败了。)

3) We all acknowledge him to be the best student in our class. (We all acknowledged that he is the best student in out class.)

          (我们都公认他是我们班上最好的学生。)

 

        concede  指承认某种客观事实或他人所说的事。

 

       1) He had to concede the mistake in face of so much evidence.

          (面对这么多的证据,他不得不承认错误。)

       2) The spokesman conceded that an immediate agreement between two sides was nowhere in sight.

          (这位发言人承认,立即达成协议希望渺茫。)

 

       grant  指向某人承认某种情况是事实。

 

       1) I grant to him a certain success, but I still don’t approve of some of his opinions.

           (我承认他有可能成功,但我还是不同意他的一些观点。)

       2) I grant that your explanation to the problem is reasonable.

           (我承认你对问题的解释是合理的。)
