  Tina:Like what?

Sean:Last week, I saw Brian kissing you on the cheek。

  Tina:It was only the cheek。

Sean:So that is okay then? It starts on the cheek, and pretty soon you’re French kissing in the back of his car。

  Tina:Oh, that’s ridiculous!

Jack:No. I like being single. I’ve never felt lonely. I’m focusing on my career. Maybe I’ll start to look for my girl when I achieve success。

  Tess:Why is that?

Jack:Because I live in the real world. A man needs to have a good career and make a lot of money.Frankly speaking, the girls I’ve met wouldn’t marry a man who didn’t make enough money。

Miss Wang:You’re right, Ah…This is a bit unexpected. To tell you the truth, I’ve never thought of you that way before。

John:Unexpected? Yes. But I’ve had the wish for a long time。

Miss Wang:John, thank you for the lovely offer but my feelings for you don’t go beyond friendship。

  Bill:So, is that a “yes”?

  Emma:Yes。

Bill:Oh, Emma, that makes me so happy. I promise you my love, but I can’t promise you wealth, not right now。

Emma:Honey, as long as you love me, really love me, I won’t care anything。

  Bill:You’re so sweet。

  Emma:I do have a request though。

  Bill:Say it. It’s done。

Mr. Smith:You will always be the most beautiful one in the world. What is the bridesmaid’s name?

Mrs. Smith:Judy. Why are you so interested in her?

Mr. Smith:Don’t be so sensitive. Just a casual question. I caught you looking at the groomsman。

  Mrs. Smith:He is terribly handsome。

Mr. Smith:I wonder why he is chosen to be the groomsman and why Mary doesn’t marry him, since he’s much more attractive。

Mrs. Smith:Why are you so bitter? No one tells worse jokes than you。

Wife:I’m surprised. He doesn’t look like a guy who’d ever cheat on his wife, does he?

Husband:No, he doesn’t. But his wife found out that he's been two-timing for a long time. Incredibly, he’s had many different girlfriends starting almost right after they got married 20 years ago。

Wife:Well, I'm really surprised. You’re not doing anything behind my back, are you?

Husband:No. The only thing I’ve ever done behind your back is zip you up. Besides, I told all my other girlfriends that my wife was getting suspicious and that we had to cool it for a while until the smoke blew over。

Wife:Ha! Ha! You’re not very funny. I guess that means you expect me to tell my lover we have to stop seeing each  other too。

Kate:That’s really surprising. I always thought they were well-matched. What about the kids? Who will get custody?

Gary:Marcia. It seems quite amicable—no squabbling over who’ll get the house and stuff—an uncontested divorce with all the details worked out。

Kate:That’s a change from all the back-stabbing we usually hear about…While I still can’t believe it—Marcia and Harold! The perfect couple! When will the divorce be final?

  Halloween

Laura:Tomorrow is Halloween. I know I’m ready. I bought two pumpkins and a big bag of candy. Do you want to help me make a jack-o’-lantern?

Mike:I’d love to. I heard about Halloween when I was in Beijing. It’s a kind of children’s day. Small kids get dressed up, then walk around with paper bags or baskets knocking on their neighbor’s doors. But what do they say when their neighbor answers?

Laura:They’re supposed to say “Trick or Treat”. Then their neighbor is supposed to hand out some candy。

Mike:That’s kind of cool. But what does “Trick”mean?

Laura:Usually it’s the older kids going around playing pranks, like punching the pumpkins left outside people’s doors, or hanging a roll of toilet paper in someone’s tree. They usually do it late at night after the little kids go home。

Mike:It sounds kind of fun. Maybe I could get together with my friends that night。

Laura:Usually the adults who don’t have kids have a big party and get dressed up too。

Mike:That does sound like a lot of fun。
