PART ONE:

Well, dear students and teachers. It’s really too late for me to make a long speach. I think everybody is getting tired. But it’s an exciting night.and… Eveybody come from all over China you young kids come for a result. Everybody wants to come peaceful number one. But, there is only one number one in every competition. So, we come for the result. But, some come for the result of losing the competition actually it’s not losing, some for the competition of winning. But, no matter winning or losing, this is not important. No matter number one or number two, this is not important. The most important thing is you are coming to experience, experience the friendship of the team members. Experience the new places here, and new friends here, new teachers here and to see what you can do here.

And in my life, I once paid great attention to result. I want it very much to be number one in my class, in my university. But I never ever got any number one in my life up to today. I don’t know whether today the New Oriental is the number one education company in the world or in China. But I’m pretty sure the New Oriental is still very small and is still have great potential to grow. And I know myself even I never get any number one in my life. I was always number twenty in my elementary and middle school and high school. I was number five from the buttom in my university life you know. And I failed three times in my national entrance examination. But, you know the result (very beginning, from the very beginning,) the beginning result is not really important actually. The most important thing is that you still have confidence in yourself. You still want to go forward no matter what kind of difficulties or failures or frustrations are in front of you. You know that your life, your whole life will shine not at this age anyway at that age, not at this point anyway at that point. So, just go for it. I always encourage myself try to go forward. No matter people around you look donw upon you or no matter people around you respect you. It’s other people’s ideas. You should have a right idea of yourself. And everybody here actually has much better English abilities than most of New Oriental teachers still actually. Your language is so fluntly and your English abilities, you express yourslfe so nicely.

PART TWO

But what I want to say is that language itself has no power. We have the slaver(口水) in New Oriental that langvage is power. But actually language itself is not power. The power is deep in your heart. The power is the depth of your thougt. The power is the value of your life. What is your vision? What is your dream? So, I don’t see any good English ability will bring you to a bright future. I see you are passion for your future. You are passion for your dream when you bring in to a future. So, I know that I can see that from your passion to study language means that you have passion for this world you know, because if a person does not have any passion for this world, you will not study a foreign language. What’s for a foreign language for going abroad for going out to this world? Why do you choose English to study? Because English can be used all over this world, you go to every country you can meet somebody who speak English. You can ask for directions. You can ask people to explain the culture of the country, of the nation, and thegeography(地理) of the nation and the people of the nation and begin to understand this world. If you do not have this language ability, you will have to limit yourself living in only one nation like in China. So, actually I was in Grace last month. Because I do not understand anything about Grace Language and many of the Grace people do not speak English. So, I feel at a loss(困惑不解) at such a great country with a history of more than five thousand years and I have to read English books and Chinese books and I have to find directions by myself and to try to know the stories and I look at all the vedios. And I watch vedios and all the vedios in the TV station are speaking Grace language and then I feel I am an idiot(笨蛋，傻瓜) in that country with such a great history behind that country you know.

PART THREE

So, when we are studying a language, when we are studing, no matterwhat kind of languages we are studying. You are communicating with this world. You are communicating with different cultures, different nations and you are widing in yourself in your vision, and you become the rater(第一流人物) you know in your life and all our foreign friends actually they are studying Chinese. Why do they study Chinese since there are so many Chinese people who can speak English? Why do you study Chinese? The reason is that when you study Chinese, you go deeply into the culture. You understand people more. You know you fall in love more easily than you do not speak Chinese if you want to find a girlfriend here right. I don’t know whether you married or not.

So, you know another thing that I want to say is that I can say great teams spirit when you are giving all the performances here. You know teams spirit is the secret of success, the final success, the great success. New Oriental is a success, but this success is not the success of myself, is not the success of one person, is the success of a great team. From the very beginning New Oriental is a team, is not one person. I’ve never seen any company; I’ve never seen any country in our nation who only has one person successful. Even If there is only one person who is so-called successful, he will be a failure at last, because he is onle a “孤家寡人” like Chinese 皇帝 say right? Chinese, that Chinese Emperor(皇帝) always say they are the only one person in this world. Then, they at last become the only person and get fail and then forgotten by people. So, we need a great team. So, American funding fathers are great teams. And Chinese funding fathers I think are great teams, right? Our new China and New Oriental is great teams. We have hundred of team members here. We have Chen Xiangdong here, we have Zhang Ruiqing, we have numerous great teachers all this great teachers here.

PART FOUR

So, remember that in your life in the future, do not forget to have friends, do not forget to have team members and do not forget to help each other in your, no matter in your own life or in your job or in your company. No matter you set up your own company or no matter you work for other companies. You know that is the secret of your great success in your life. So, when we are facing life, we are facing success, we are facing you know pleasure, but, we are also facing difficulties, we are also facing falilures and we are also facing frustrations. Life is not about all… Life is not all about happiness. It’s about pains and gains. You have pains, you have gains. You understand pains, you get happiness. So, I know the great power of life is when you are facing frustrations and when you are facing like something that you feel disappointed some of our people here, young kids here, you may feel disappointed, you may even feel unfairness. Why not me? My English seems better than this guy or than that girl. Why not me? You feel unfairness, you feel disappointed. But, remember there is never any absolute fairness(绝对公平) in this world. Sometimes, you are good, you lose. Sometimes, you are not so good, but you win. You win this event, then you lose that event. But, remember life is all about fighting back you know. You have fighting back attitude when you fall down on this ground. You have the ability to stand up again. Then at last, you will win! I feel many many many times in my life no matter in my studies or in my jobs or in New Oriental. But every time, I try to motivate myself. I try to encourage myself. Then at last, I stand up again and again and again and then I stand here today. So, thanks a lot. Remember, when you love this world, when you love your life. This world will love you and your life will be yours. When you embrace(拥抱) this world and this world will embrace you and you will find all your life no matter how many difficulties you are facing. It will be a happy journey. Thank you!
